That morning cup of coffee definitely works like a magic potion. We all
feel better with the rush that coffee brings. This stimulated feeling
experienced after drinking coffee is brought on by the caffeine in your
coffee.
Caffeine works by acting on
the central nervous system and increasing alertness, reaction time,
heart rate and metabolism. Because of these effects, caffeine becomes a
major cause of concern for a lot of coffee-drinkers. Research has
proved that caffeine in moderation (five cups of coffee a day, or less)
has minimal side-effects.
Since caffeine is excreted
within a few hours and does not build up in our body, expert have found
it agreeable to take 200-300 mg per day. That is the equivalent
of three cups of coffee.
Pregnant women have been
advised to keep caffeine intake low to prevent any risk of pre-term
delivery or spontaneous abortion. Research conducted by The American
Cancer Society reveals no connection between caffeine consumption with
cancer. Caffeine does not cause cardiac problems, but people who
experience increased heart rate from caffeine will want to steer clear
of all products that contain it.
Still in doubt? Order a
decaf! We have a range of decaf drink on our menu. At Grano Coffee, all
you have to do to steer clear of caffeine is ask.
